Two men arrested for the murder of Limpopo Lekompo producer Adifele "Baswele Mfana" Maimela appeared today in the Polokwane Magistrate's Court.

POLOKWANE – Two suspects arrested in the early hours of Tuesday morning in connection with a murder on Magazyn Street appeared before the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court today (Thursday, April 9).

The two men, aged 25 and 27, have been identified as Masheleng Mashishi and Karabo Mothiba.

They were charged with the murder of Adifele Maimela, a Lekompo genre producer and DJ widely known as “Baswele Mfana,” as well as the attempted murder of Monakoena Ramagoshi.

According to police reports, Ramagoshi was with the victim at the time of the shooting and was his girlfriend.

The report further noted that Maimela was at his rented residence with his girlfriend in the early morning hours when the two accused, allegedly known to Ramagoshi, arrived at the premises.

An argument reportedly broke out between the victim and the accused.

One of the two men then unlawfully and intentionally produced a firearm, shot the victim, and also attempted to shoot Ramagoshi.

Following the shooting, the suspects asked others present to help transport the victim to the hospital.

However, he was declared dead on arrival. The firearm was recovered by police and seized for further investigation.

The case has been postponed to April 16 for a bail application.
