Limpopo content creator dies after being hit by vehicle

Police have opened a culpable homicide case after influencer Mpho Netshinombelo was killed in a road incident near Tshikota while out jogging.

LIMPOPO – The police are investigating a fatal road incident in which content creator and social media personality Mpho ‘The Gyad’ Netshinombelo (27) died after being struck by a vehicle while jogging along the R522 Vivo road outside Louis Trichardt at Tshikota on April 9.

According to police, the driver of a bakkie lost control of the vehicle and hit Netshinombelo.

Emergency Medical Services workers declared him dead at the scene.

Investigation under way into circumstances of incident

The Makhado police have opened a culpable homicide case docket, and investigations are under way to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Family awaits answers

Mpho’s father Aaron Netshinombelo, said the family is still awaiting clearer answers about what transpired.

“What we know so far is that on the day he left to jog, everything seemed normal.

“From there, no one knows exactly what happened,” he said.

Father pays tribute to his son’s legacy

He described his son as a driven young man passionate about content creation and committed to helping others.

“Mpho was my son, and he was a go-getter who wanted to improve the lives of everyone close to him.

“He helped many people, including needy young people.

“As a family, we all looked up to him.

“We are heartbroken about his death,” he said.

Tributes pour in on social media

Tributes have since poured in on social media, with fans and followers expressing shock and grief.

The office of the mayor also conveyed condolences to the family.

One follower on social media wrote: “Just woke up to the sad news of the death of my brother. He was on every one of my Instagram lives and showed me love and support from day one.

“We had so much content planned.

“You will be missed. Rest well.”

Netshinombelo’s funeral is scheduled for Saturday in Tshikota.
