POLOKWANE – The bail application of Comfort Bafana Mongalo, accused of killing his partner, the 38-year-old Mpho Johanna Lefakgomo, is set to continue at the Seshego Magistrate’s Court following his second appearance on April 15.
Mongalo was charged with the murder of Lefakgomo, whose body was later found dumped in the bushes at Mashashane Newlands.
During his initial court appearance, Mongalo reportedly changed legal representation, appointing a new lawyer for his ongoing bail application.
Outside the court, tensions were high as community members from Mashashane Newlands, alongside organisations including Fearless Voices of ward 9 and the victim’s family, staged a protest.
The state opposed bail, echoing concerns raised by the community. Mongalo has also indicated that he prefers to remain in custody while the case continues.
The bail hearing is scheduled to resume today (April 23) at the Seshego Magistrate’s Court.
