Limpopo police offer R100k reward in Fiona Matodzi missing case

Fiona Matodzi has been missing since 2022 in Itsani village, Limpopo, with police now offering a R100 000 reward for information.

LIMPOPO – As part of efforts to intensify the investigation into the disappearance of the nine-year-old Fiona Mpfunzeni Matodzi, the police are offering a reward of R100 000 for information that may lead to her recovery and the arrest and prosecution of those responsible.

Reported missing in 2022

Limpopo police spokesperson Col Malesela Ledwaba said Fiona was reported missing on August 11, 2022, after she disappeared in Itsani village within the Thohoyandou policing area.

Last known movements

According to police, Fiona was walking home from school when she was abducted.

She was last seen by fellow learners walking behind her, who told police they saw her getting into a black Volkswagen Polo without registration plates.

The occupants of the vehicle could not be identified.

“At the time of her disappearance, Fiona was wearing her school uniform. She never arrived home and has not been seen since.

“The family continues to appeal for assistance as they remain desperate for answers regarding her whereabouts,” said Ledwaba.

Police renew call for information

Provincial police commissioner Lt Gen Thembi Hadebe reiterated the police’s commitment to pursuing every possible lead.

“We urge the public to come forward with any information, no matter how small it may seem. Someone out there knows something, and that information could be critical in reuniting Fiona with her family and ensuring that justice is served.”

Anyone with information that may assist the investigation is urged to contact Col Lesiba Somo of the provincial missing person’s unit on 082 565 8238, the Crime Stop number 08600 10111, or their nearest police station.
