Jacques Smalle elected new DA Limpopo leader
Jacques Smalle has been elected as DA Limpopo leader, while Christiaan Smit takes over as provincial chairperson ahead of the November elections.
POLOKWANE – DA in Limpopo has elected new provincial leadership at its provincial congress in Polokwane, with the party positioning itself for a stronger performance in the upcoming local government elections.
Former provincial leader Jacques Smalle was elected as the party’s new provincial leader, bringing an end to Lindy Wilson’s three-year tenure at the helm.
Smalle, who had been serving as provincial chairperson, moves up into the top leadership role and is expected to lead the party’s municipal candidates into the local government elections scheduled for November 4.
Meanwhile, Christiaan Smit was elected as the party’s new provincial chairperson.

The congress brought together delegates from across Limpopo and was attended by DA Federal Leader Geordin Hill-Lewis and Federal Chairperson Solly Msimanga.
Delivering the keynote address, Hill-Lewis focused on what the party described as the growing impact of crime and deteriorating local governance on communities across the province.
The DA argued that rising violent crime, illegal firearms, extortion and failing public services continue to affect residents, linking these challenges to weak local government and declining public confidence.
The party said its approach centres on restoring law and order through stronger policing and building municipalities that are more effective and accountable.
The outcome of the congress sets the tone for the DA’s campaign in Limpopo as parties begin ramping up preparations for the November local government elections.
