Flora Park learner selected for Banyana u/17 squad

Flora Park learner Masello Ledwaba has earned a place in the Banyana Banyana U/17 squad after impressing scouts during national trials.

POLOKWANE – Masello Ledwaba, a learner from Flora Park Comprehensive High School has earned herself a spot in the u/17 national squad.

She explained that she was excited to be selected to be part of the Banyana Banyana u/17 team. She went through trials to show her potential and the scouts agreed that she had what it takes to be part of the team.

She shared that she started playing soccer after taking inspiration from her older sister who was also a soccer player.

“My mother used to tell me that I will go far because of my talent and those words have kept me motivated to make her proud,” she said.

Although she is a rising star in soccer, it wasnt her initial choice of sport. She was an athlete but realised early that it wasn’t for her so she chose a different sport.

She has since fallen in love with soccer and pushes herself to practice everyday when she doesn’t have tests to study for.

“I love soccer but I also understand the importance of school. I know I have to prioritise getting an education because you need something to fall back on in life,” she said.

She also plays in the professional league representing different soccer clubs. Her biggest motivation to do well is so that she can improve her family’s circumstances and create a legacy.
