POLOKWANE – The Limpopo Provincial Murder and Robbery Unit has arrested a 56-year-old man in connection with the murder of two men whose bodies were found outside Polokwane in August last year.

Police allege that on August 17, 2025, a 37-year-old Zimbabwean businessman and his 27-year-old friend travelled to Dendron to buy stock, including liquor and live chickens.

The two men were allegedly kidnapped by four unknown men driving a white Toyota Avanza while travelling along the R521 towards Marowe village. Their bakkie, loaded with the stock they had bought, was later found abandoned at Moletjie, in Ga-Semenya village outside Polokwane.

Bodies found with gunshot wounds

The next day, the bodies of the two men were found with gunshot wounds along a gravel road next to the R37, in the Westenburg policing area.

A case of double murder was opened at Westenburg Police Station and transferred to the Provincial Murder and Robbery Unit for further investigation.

Suspect traced to Gauteng

Following what police described as a lengthy and intensive investigation, a 56-year-old man was traced and arrested at Diepkloof in Gauteng. He is linked to both counts of murder.

He is expected to appear in the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court today (July 27), on two counts of murder.

Police investigations continue.
