Man beaten to death in Bloodriver mob justice attack

A 37-year-old man was beaten to death in an alleged mob justice incident at Bloodriver village. Police have opened a murder case.

POLOKWANE – The Seshego police have opened a murder case following the fatal beating of a 37-year-old male victim during an alleged mob justice incident at Bloodriver village, Moletjie, in the early hours of Monday morning.

Victim found lying in the street

At about 8:20 AM, police were on patrol duties when they received a complaint of a murder in the area and proceeded to the scene. Upon arrival, police found a male victim lying on the street and covered with a pink sheet.

The victim had sustained severe head injuries. Members of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) were immediately summoned to the scene and certified the victim dead on their arrival.

Deceased identified

The deceased was positively identified by a family member as Phuti Joseph Kwenaite, 37, a resident of Bloodriver village.

Motive still unknown

Preliminary investigations revealed that the deceased was allegedly assaulted by a group of community members.

The motive behind the brutal attack is yet to be established as investigations continue.
