POLOKWANE – The N1 near Ysterberg was temporarily closed due to a serious crash involving four vehicles.

The crash occurred approximately 4km before Mokopane.

4 killed, 12 injured

Preliminary reports indicate that four people lost their lives at the scene, comprising two male drivers and two passengers, a male and a female.

A total of 12 people were injured:

• 4 sustained critical injuries
• 6 sustained serious injuries
• 2 sustained moderate injuries

The cause of the incident is still under investigation.

High-traffic weekend ahead

MEC Kekana has ordered intensified deployment on the N1 and other major routes ahead of a high-traffic weekend.

Movement will be compounded by the long weekend, comprised of weddings, family gatherings and festivals which will increase traffic on all major roads and connecting roads.
