Body of young man found in dam at Polokwane Golf Club

It is not clear how a young man ended up in a dam at the Polokwane Golf Club, where his body was found floating near the 17th hole, the club's manager says.

POLOKWANE – The body of a young man was found floating in a dam at the Polokwane Golf Club on Wednesday morning, October 7. Police have been contacted but have not yet released any information about the discovery.

Club manager Wynand Pretorius said a general worker found the body close to the 17th hole.

“One of the general workers discovered the body of a young man floating in the dam close to the 17th hole this morning. He informed a greenkeeper who then contacted me. I rushed to the scene and notified the police,” Pretorius said.

He said the man was dressed in black and wore an arm band around his wrist, which allegedly indicates that he attended a festival at a nearby venue on Saturday evening, October 3.

“The young man was reported missing after he did not return to his family after the festival. It is not clear how he ended up in the dam. This is a very sad occasion for us and we extend our condolences to the family,” Pretorius said.

Police are yet to release any information about the incident. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
