US bodybuilders encourage learners to love God and themselves

Two-time National Gym Association Pro Universe champion Ray Clark told learners that putting God first meant putting others first which is important for the realisation of success.

POLOKWANE – To make a difference in the learners’ lives at Noorderland High School, American bodybuilders Ray Clark and his wife Jannet Abraham-Clark visited the school on Wednesday.

The aim of their tour to South Africa and visits to various schools in the country was to encourage learners to stay away from drugs and bullying in order to realise their dreams and to be successful in life.

Addressing the learners, the two guests vividly explained the negative effects of drugs and bullying on the future of a child. “The first two keys that are going to open up the door to your dreams are to love God and to love others as you love yourself,” Ray said.

He further explained that putting God first meant putting others first, adding that doing this every day was important for the realisation of success. The two-time National Gym Association Pro Universe overall champion in 2014 and 2018 said it was also important to work hard for your own dreams.

“Every dream is worked hard for. It’s going to be hard at first but you know what, you can’t quit and don’t ever give up,” he said.

The Mahlasedi Foundation team also joined the event to show support and gifted the couple with T-shirts.

During the event, Ray and Jannet gave surprise performances for the learners as they showed off their muscle power capabilities by twisting and folding frying pans and metal, showing the learners that if you put focus and concentration into something, anything is possible and can be achieved in life.

As a bullying survivor himself, Ray also shared a glimpse of his childhood experience as a victim of his stepfather’s bullying that nearly destroyed his future.

Gr 11 learner Muano Maduwa volunteered to also show off his muscles to the couple and fellow learners.
