Amanda takes the reigns at Bet-Shalom
The newly appointed principal at Bet-Shalom Christian School, Amanda Saville said she is motivated to carry out God's plan with vigour and grace.
POLOKWANE – “It’s an absolute honour to be chosen for this position. I’m extremely excited to serve the school, the learners and staff. I believe that God appointed me to make an impact in the lives of children and teachers alike,” said Bet-Shalom Christian School newly appointed principal Amanda Saville.
The former teacher who has been in the education industry for more than eight years, originally from Durban, told Review that she’s motivated to carry out God’s plan with vigour and grace.
“I have always been passionate about education, even from a young age. At school I would get paired with learners who were struggling so that I could offer them extra support. After matriculating I decided to pursue my career in education and began studying towards it. While studying I volunteered to work at a pre-school and that is where my love and passion for children grew,” she said.

Prior to working at Bet-Shalom, Amanda previously taught at two other Christian schools in Polokwane.
“I feel so blessed and honoured to have taught only at Christian schools, it is such a fulfilling experience to offer Christ- centred education as it also offers you an opportunity to grow in your faith,” she said.
She added that as the principal, her overall responsibility is to ensure the learners are receiving the highest quality of education by leading, guiding and supporting the amazing team of educators who have been appointed for the job.
“It is also to lead and guide all other staff and ensure the smooth running of the school. My experience thus far has been great. I’ve been working towards this position for the past two years, and owner of the school pastor Lizelle Calitz has been an inspiration and mentor to me. I have worked closely with her in training before my appointment,” Amanda said.
Amanda spent the past two years as vice principal and then acting principal which she believes has equipped her to be able to face the challenges that lie ahead.
“I’m also blessed and honoured to work with a fantastic team of leaders and head of departments within the school, they play a vital role in managing the school and definitely makes my load lighter,” she said.
Bet-Shalom means ‘House of peace’ and Amanda explained that it is what the school aims to provide for every learner that comes their way. The school’s overall mission and vision is to offer quality Christ-centred education and instill Godly morals and values into the children.
“Pastor Lizelle has been a huge inspiration to me and I aspire to share the same wisdom that she has departed in me with others. I love working with people and cultivating leadership within them. As I have been inspired, I too hope to inspire others, more especially women to find their voice and use it. There is a quote by Michelle Obama that uplifts me when I feel defeated which says “There is no limit to what we, as women, can accomplish.”
