Tommie announced as best performing EGD learner
Chiagoziem Collins, a Gr 12 learner at Tom Naudé Technical High School says engineering graphic and design is one of his favourite subjects.
POLOKWANE – Chiagoziem Collins (18), a Gr 12 learner at Tom Naudé Technical High School, was recently announced as the best-performing learner in engineering graphic and design (EGD) at the Capricorn regional awards.
After completing his primary school career at Noordskool, Chiagoziem became a Tommie as he’s always wanted to attend a technical high school.
He plans for a future in robotics engineering.
“I did not know that I was going to win. I felt good to hear my name called out as winner. Since only the winners attended the function, I do not know how many opponents I had or who they were. I have to thank my EGD teacher, Alwyn Olivier, without whom I could not have done this.”
EGD is one of Chiagoziem’s favourite subjects and he explains why:
“It is a good subject to have for learners who want to pursue careers as engineers, architects, landscape designers and drafting engineers, to name a few.”
He says he sets goals for himself, and runs at his own pace, “and therefore I am my own biggest competition”.
Olivier is very proud of Chiagoziem.
“Well done on your achievement in 2022. Your hard work paid off and you are very goal-driven. I know you will reach everything and anything you set your mind to. Good luck with 2023, may it be even better than 2022.”
Apart from the certificate he also won the subject award for EGD Gr 11 at his school.
