Mulaifa’s on a mission to save the nation through education
Mulaifa Nethenzheni said his focus is to help learners achieve their career goals starting with choosing the right subjects.
POLOKWANE – Mulaifa Nethenzheni, an administrative clerk at Flora Park Comprehensive High School, who has worked at the school since 2010, is excited to advance his efforts to assist learners in selecting their subject stream wisely.
After seeing that many young people graduate from high school without any idea of what they are really interested in, Nethenzheni began a project in 2015 called ‘Let’s save our nation with education’, which mainly focused on the Vhembe district, and is now expanding to the Capricorn district.
“The project focuses especially on learners in Gr 9-12. I initiated the project in 2015 after realising that most young people struggle with choosing careers, getting bursaries and money.”
Nethenzheni says his focus is to help learners achieve their career goals starting with choosing the right subjects. This year the project has 260 learners in Gr 9.

He says the targeted learners for the project are Gr 9s which he feels are easily neglected when career expos are conducted.
“Learners in Gr 9 have the opportunity to decide what subjects they plan to take for the following year, which some follow through until their final matric exam. I regard them as the engine of the school.”
He hopes to partner with more local municipalities who will also contribute to awarding deserving learners with bursaries to further their studies.
