Parents urged to apply on time for 2024 academic year

POLOKWANE- The Education Department has urged parents to apply timeously for their children to be placed in schools for the 2024 academic year.

The application period for learners in primary and secondary schools runs from May 15 until July 31 for prospective Gr R, Gr 1 and Gr 8 learners, while Gr 2 to Gr 11 learner registration will take place from September 15-22.

Documents needed for the application process include certified copies of the learner’s birth certificate, or proof of birth date, immunisation card, transfer card, latest report and parents’ or guardians’ proof of residence.

The Education MEC, Mavhungu Lerule-Ramakhanya along with other officials, including the Polokwane circuit manager, Biddy Ratale joined Capricorn High School and Pietersburg English Medium Primary School (PEMPS) in opening the handing out of registration forms at these schools last Monday, and distributed some to parents.

The return period of the forms starts from May 22 for all schools in the province, according to the MEC.

“Parents must fetch application forms from their schools of choice if it’s a first-time application, or an instance where the child is moving to a new school. This school should ideally be in close proximity to the parents’ home or work address. She urged parents to apply without delay and advised them to make copies of the application forms along with the attached documents.
