POLOKWANE – The National Senior Certificate examination started on October 30 and in most households, the atmosphere is one of study and little else as matriculants prepare for their papers.
While the final papers are written on December 8, most Gr 12s write their last papers before this date.
Review asked local Gr 12 learners about their experience so far in this very important exam.
Tatum Whitehead from Capricorn High School: The exam has been emotionally draining, but so far so good and it’s going far better than the trial exams. My toughest paper has to be mathematics but I’m positive that I’m going to pass it.Tlhologelo Tau from Northern Academy Secondary School: The exam is going well and the school makes sure that we are in a good learning environment. They put in the effort to make us study even on days that we do not write, but everything is going well so far.Marinelle Smit from PHS: The exam so far has been quite fair as I expected much worse. I struggle with physical science since it is not as much theory as application. I still have six papers left to write.Sabrina Abdullah (Taxila Secondary School Gr 12 learner): I’ve been having some challenges with Afrikaans paper one but over all with the exams in general, everything has been easy on me as I don’t have a problem remembering what I have studied. I’m confident that I’ve done pretty good in most subjects so far.Taxila Secondary School Gr 12 learner Mohammed Zayd-Raj: I’ve been writing my final exams and it has been a good exam until now. The only challenges I’ve been facing was economics papers as they were a bit tough on me, especially paper two, but then I know and I’m confident in my self that I will be passing economics and my other subjects including accounting, mathematics literacy, English, Afrikaans etc. Most people would always tell me that the final exam papers are difficult but when I sat do.Kabelo Maselakgomo from Northern Academy: There have been many challenges but I have prepared well. The only thing I can say to my fellow Gr 12s, is that the best weapon to pass the year, is to have a positive mindset.Elri Peters from PHS: The first week of the examination was hectic but we are now getting into the rhythm. Even though the maths paper was not difficult, the stress of writing it was horrible. I still have six papers left.Sandile Nxumalo from Flora Park Comprehensive High School: My exam is going according to plan, and although I don’t have my final marks, based on my estimations I am meeting my targets. I haven’t written the papers I find hard yet, but the hardest one so far is probably engineering and graphic design. For more breaking news follow us on FacebookTwitter Instagram or join our WhatsApp group
