The trio were selected at the provincial primary school athletics meeting held at University of Limpopo on March 7 while representing the Capricorn district.

Onthatile excelled in the long jump event, Tsentle won gold medal in girls 100m race while Ntseba took silver medals in both 200m and 100m boys events.

Manala Maloba, physical teacher and athletics coach at the school said they are happy with the progress made by the learners at the provincial event.

“They are the first learners to make it to the national event in the history of the school. They have been working hard since the beginning of the primary school meeting and they are more than ready to take on other athletes from various provinces.”

Ntseba Nkoana said she never thought that she would be in the provincial team.

“I could not believe it when my name was mentioned among other learners from top primary schools in the city who are part of the provincial schools team. It will be my first time representing my school on a national level and I want to make the best of every moment.”
