PEMPS head girl proves that dynamite comes in small packages

Keneilwe Moremi said she would like to leave a legacy of somebody who was fun and carefree and not too uptight.

POLOKWANE – Though initially in doubt about taking up the position of head girl at Pietersburg English Medium Primary School, Keneilwe Moremi chose to be bold and lead with confidence.

She says that, as someone who is short and small in stature, she was reluctant to take the lead but now she is on a mission to show that dynamite comes in small packages. “I realised that there is nothing stopping me because I am smart enough, I can be a head girl if I want to be,” she said.

Moremi added that being head girl is a balancing act as she has to lead her fellow learners and make sure that she performs well academically.

She added that there are days on which she feels overwhelmed and, on those days, she pushes through to make sure that she finishes her schoolwork.

She enjoys her interaction with her fellow learners, especially the Gr 1s. “I feel like they are such happy bundles of joy and I am happy to be keeping them safe at school.”

She would like to leave a legacy of somebody who was fun and carefree and not too uptight, bossing them around all day. “In that same breath, I also want to be remembered for being smart and being a great leader who maintained the school’s good name,” she concluded.
