30 Cappies learners receive first aid training

First Aid captains Otlile Rangango and Dimpho Koko said they are now equipped and can implement the techniques they were taught to jelp fellow learners in need.

POLOKWANE – While hoping to never need these skills, 30 Capricorn High School learners recently attended a basic first aid skills course in case of emergencies at the school.

The captains of the schools first aid team, Otlile Rangango and Dimpho Koko explained that as first aiders, they’re always on high alert to assist should anyone get hurt. “We have been equipped and can now implement the techniques we were taught,” explained Koko.

Among others, the training involved the basics of performing CPR, how to help a wounded person, how to take care of someone who has a fracture and what to do in the case of someone being unconscious.

Rangango added that with the training done and dusted, they are ready for emergencies, however, the biggest lesson they took from the training was to act fast in situations beyond their expertise and contact emergency services.

Their responsibilities include being present at every school event and practice session, as emergencies mostly arise unexpectedly.
