Silver at national tournament for Tommies’ Abu
Kuburu Abubakar participated in the South African High School and Learners with Special Educational Needs (LSEN) national track and field championship where she competed in the u/19 girls triple jump item.
POLOKWANE – The head girl of Tom Naudé Technical High School, Kuburu Abubakar takes part and excels in triple jump and netball.
Abu, as friends call her, has a bright sporting future ahead of her.
She recently took part in the South African High School and Learners with Special Educational Needs (LSEN) national track and field championship where she competed in the u/19 girls triple jump item.
She came second with a distance of 11.67m.
“I was in shock and disbelief when I realised I was second, and I am proud of my result.
“My opponent, Amoné le Roux, was stronger than me and won the contest. For now, I will focus on my netball and studies.”
In January, she also received news that she was chosen to play in the SA u/21 netball team during the World Cup in Gibraltar next year.
“If I had to choose one of these sports codes, I would gladly choose netball.”
Abu’s dreams for her future includes playing netball and studying architecture.
