POLOKWANE – Xitshembiso Baloyi and Shawnell Mashola from Pietersburg English Medium Primary School are the head boy and head girl of the school.

They are the learners at the helm of assisting with the smooth running of the school.

Mashola, the head girl said that she is thankful for her fellow learners and teachers for trusting her with such a big responsibility.

She added that she is happy with the election of new prefects because it means more help for them.

She explained that being head girl did not come as much of a surprise because since Gr 4, she was told that she has the leadership qualities to become head girl.

“I trusted myself and worked hard. I will continue to do so as I make sure that I carry out my responsibilities with determination and pride knowing that I represent my school,” she said.

The head boy, Xitshembiso Baloyi said that he is happy to have the opportunity to lead the school.

He added that he believes he was entrusted with the position because he is well behaved, has shown leadership skills and he performs well academically.

He also urged his fellow learners to also follow the school rules and do what’s right even when nobody is watching.

The two leaders shared that they use every moment they have to keep up with their school so that they don’t fall behind.

They want to create a legacy that will remain even after they have moved on to high school.
