The Lilo and Stitch Autism and Day Care Centre will host Autism Awareness Day on April 5 with fun activities for the whole family to enjoy.
POLOKWANE – Lilo and Stitch Autism and Day Care Centre, with its tagline ‘It’s cool to be different’ is set to host a special Autism Awareness Day on April 5 at the Eeufeeshuis Hall at APD in Penina Park (2 Pafuri Avenue).
Krista Bunting, founder and principal of the centre, said the event will feature a lecture by guest speaker Prof Greg Lamb, a paediatric neurologist with over 11 years of experience.
Lamb has a strong focus on neuroscience, psychopathology and speech and language disorders in children. He is passionate about treating seizures and supporting the parents of children with autism.
Krista mentioned that there will be fun activities for the whole family to enjoy.
“We invite the community to join us on this special day in support and commemoration of Autism Awareness Day. Children can attend for free, and adults will pay a small entrance fee of just R10, which will go toward improving and expanding our centre.”
In addition to the lecture, food, drinks, and toy stalls will be available. Those interested in supporting the event are encouraged to RSVP by March 29.
Lilo and Stitch will be collaborating with Bana ba Thari Autism Foundation by Mapitso Masha, who will be empowering autistic voices.
“This is our annual event where we will be enlightening minds and embracing autism, as well as educating the community about it. It is indeed a pleasure to be collaborating with Lilo and Stitch on this special day,” Masha said.
