Mitchell House hosts heartfelt slipper day fundraiser

Squirrels’ Nest learners take part in Slipper Day, donating to support children battling critical illnesses.

POLOKWANE – Mitchell House Squirrels’ Nest learners kicked off their school shoes and stepped into their cosiest slippers, along with their pyjamas, while sipping on a cup of hot chocolate on May 30.

This event formed part of the Slipper Day, Reach For A Dream movement with the theme ‘Step into My Slippers,’ where learners donated R20 each to make dreams come true for children fighting their toughest battles and critical diseases, including cancer, renal failure and heart conditions.

The day was filled with warmth, laughter and fun.

Leah Ann Weir, head of phase and learner support, told Review that by trading their shoes for slippers, the learners are stepping into the world of those children fighting their toughest battles, showing them that they are not alone in this fight.

“Thank you to the parents for your support and the learners for your kind hearts,” she concluded.
