POLOKWANE – The idea of going to the gym for the first time can be quite a daunting one, and apart from getting fit, you will get to meet various characters at the gym.
Here are a couple of interesting characters you are bound to meet in the gym:
• The talker:
Do you think the gym is a place to workout? Not for this person. The talker’s jaw usually gets the most exercise for the day, and they usually make the gym feel more like a talk show than a place to workout.
• The sweater:
This person can cover any machine with sweat without even thinking of wiping it before moving on to the next machine.
• The hoarder:
This person will use five machines during one workout, and will never share one of the machines until his two-hour workout is done.
• The grunter:
The grunter is loud, and wants everyone in the entire gym to know that he is benching his personal record.
• The old man:
This guy is probably twice your age, but will out lift you and most guys at the gym, in every possible way.
• The fit girl:
Like the old man, the fit girl can out lift most guys in the gym, and though she is very beautiful, you won’t see any guys close to her as she will easily make them look weak.
• The fitness junkie:
This guy basically owns the gym; he is the fittest, strongest and most experienced guy in the gym, and everyone always looks at him in awe.
• The newbie:
This is most probably you. You won’t know much in the gym, so if you don’t feel comfortable with a certain workout, ask the trainer or team up with someone who knows their way around the gym.
There are probably way more people you will meet at the gym, but don’t let that scare you off, these people are what makes a gym great, and after a while, you will get use to the interesting characters you will find there.
