Many people have dreamed of achieving success in one area or another have landed up stopping at the first sign of defeat. The prospects of stepping into a great future are somewhat terrifying and peopple tend become overwhelmed and then chose to stay in one place of comfort than to step up and ahead. They would rather be creating areas of self-comfort where they can even walk with their eyes closed than challenge themselves to enter the next level.
This is what I call settlement mentality.
People chose to celebrate mediocrity as a consolation to their lack of success. They settle for average results, for too little achievements, for second best, for less than enough and settle in the previous success. John Tibane once said, the enemy of progress is your previous success. Do not camp in one level of success, anointing, growth and never try to experience more. Never believe that the success you are experiencing now is all there is…
If you want to experience more, I recommend the following:
Have a sense of Destiny
The poorest person in the world is not one without money, but one without a vision. You need to have a dream that drives you. Embrace something that you are willing to be ridiculed for, to die for and to stand relentlessly against opposition.
Have a sense of determination
You need to have an unrelenting attitude towards your dream. Like the Write Brothers, who when their father told them that if God wanted man to fly, He would have given him wings. They stood against their father’s limiting statements and believe and determined to prove him wrong. They went on to mechanise the flying machine. You must determine to step against all odds, prove anything and anyone who says “you cannot” wrong, because you can.
Cease the moment
The ancient book teaches that the race is neither to the swift nor the strong, but time and chance happen to us all. When you look into tomorrow and expect results, it will remain but a dream. People who embrace “tomorrow” have lost the dream in the night because they procrastinate. Procrastination is the mastery of the poor and a thief to destiny.
When you “finally” arrive at the place called “there”, you will realise that it never truly exist. Today is the best day to start towards your dream.
