The ANC is protected by historical ordainment

Party celebrates 108 yearsAS an academic, I'm critically struggling to respond to this quintessential question: How did the ANC transcend and survive historical adversity for more than 100 years?

The ANC’s existential history and survival capabilities are too complex to dissect and analyse. Against all impossible odds in history, the liberation movement has persisted, persevered and prevailed.

Two weeks ago, the party celebrated its historic 108 years of tenacious existence and undiminished resilience. Despite our varied political inclinations as citizens, we must congratulate the ANC on its 108th anniversary. A very long, complex and devastating journey of epochal resilience has come to define the party’s existence. Devastating hardships, agonising adversities and cyclonic thunderstorms have tested and tormented the ANC since its inception in 1912.

To this day, many academics and intellectuals are still puzzled by the ANC’s mysterious resilience and genetic invincibility. There are countless political disasters in history that could have paralysed and exterminated the ANC. But miraculously, this dinasauric liberation movement had never plunged into the doldrums of extinction. In the mid 1970s, the iconic ANC president, Oliver Tambo triumphantly chanted and declared: “The ANC Lives, The ANC never dies, Long Live The ANC!”

Countless political calamities and thunderstorms have engulfed the ANC since 1912, but the party is still prevailing and soldiering on. I have discovered that the ANC is secretly protected by the metrics of historical ordainment. A complicated mixture of history and fateful mystery is secretly protecting the party’s existence. Many liberation movements across Africa and the Caribbean have succumbed to the corrosive trappings of political extinction. But the ANC of Langalibale Dube, Sefako Makgatho, Tshangana Gumede and Pixley Ka Isaka Seme is still chanting and forging ahead.

The ANC’s history is organically marked by achievements and failures, milestones and hardships, sacrifices and selfish adventures, greatness and pettiness, victories and setbacks. The party has lived in the tides of history and is still trending on the cusp of history. The ANC’s 108th anniversary symbolises the triumph of epochal history. Very few political organisations on earth can persistently thrive and survive that long. The ANC is mysteriously protected by the metrics of historical ordainment.
