Zanis gymnast keep Lim name high

Fourteen senior gymnasts from Zanis Gymnastic Academy competed in the recent National Gym Games. The artistic competition took place at the Mat Sport Centre in Centurion, while the rhythmic competition took place at the University of KwaZulu-Natal in Durban.

POLOKWANE – Fourteen senior gymnasts from Zanis Gymnastic Academy competed in the recent National Gym Games. The artistic competition took place at the Mat Sport Centre in Centurion, while the rhythmic competition took place at the University of KwaZulu-Natal in Durban.

Zanis had two South African champions:

• Cleo-Anne Manamela, a level 7 rhythmic gymnast had the highest average of all level 7 age groups and claimed gold with her free dance and ribbon routines. She claimed bronze medals in both her ball and rope routines. Her performance landed her an overall gold medal in the level 7, u/15 category.

• Mushke van Staden, a level 5 artistic gymnast won gold medals in her uneven bars and beam routines. She received an overall gold medal for level 5, u/18.

The following gymnasts also won medals at the competitions:

• Ezri Hugo ended second overall after winning two silver and two bronze medals for her different apparatus routines. She took part in the level 4, u/15 rhythmic category.

• Marinette Vorster took part in the level 5, u/15 rhythmic category and finished third overall.

She claimed one silver medal and one bronze medal in her different routines.

• Marizaan Quin won a gold medal in her ribbon routine.

• Zanri Vorster claimed bronze medals for both her ball and rope routines.

• Therese van Deenter received a bronze medal for free dance.

• Juane Vorster won a bronze medal for her free dance routine.

• Lize Grebe claimed a silver medal in her ribbon routine.

• Warwick du Plessis took home a silver medal for his rings routine.

Zanis gymnasts represented Limpopo and brought back 23 medals, of which seven were gold, six silver and 10 bronze.
