Lilies lose to Easterns

Limpopo Impala Cricket (LIC) women's senior amateur team, the Lilies competed in a Cricket South Africa (CSA) T20 limited overs match against Eastern Gauteng at the Polokwane Cricket Club last Saturday.

POLOKWANE – Limpopo Impala Cricket (LIC) women’s senior amateur team, the Lilies competed in a Cricket South Africa (CSA) T20 limited overs match against Eastern Gauteng at the Polokwane Cricket Club last Saturday.

The Lilies were made up of some of the u/19 Limpopo girls team members.

They won the coin toss and decided to send Easterns in to bat first.

The visitors batted well and posted a staggering 170 runs for the loss of four wickets (170/4) in their allocated 20 overs.

The pick of the Lilies bowlers in this match was Jessica Mayes, who performed well when she bowled and batted.

Mayes claimed 1/16 in three overs and with the bat she racked up 32 runs of 67 balls, but even her valiant effort with the bat was in vain as the Lilies ran out of overs with 80 runs on the board for the loss of six wickets (80/6). Easterns won the match by 90 runs.

“I am very proud of how the u/19 players performed. We can take a lot of positives from this encounter as this also formed part of the preparation for the upcoming u/19 girls national tournament, which is set to take place in Cape Town in December,” said Sedibu Mohlaba, the u/19 coach and LIC club and facilities coordinator.
