Bilika’s season starts well

BILIKA All Stars started their Castle League season with a 6-0 win against Timangweni FC in a match played at Khakhala village in Giyani on Saturday.
The match was crucial for both sides as they sought to register more points to keep them afloat in the league.
However, for Bilika All Stars, who are currently the champions of the Nedbank Cup challenge in the Castle League category in Mopani district, the game was more of a practise match as they are preparing for bigger battles ahead of them.
According to their coach, Tshikani Nkondo, Bilika are preparing to secure a place in the final 32 teams to play in the Nedbank Cup. Before they reach that stage, they have to win at provincial level, a prospect that Nkondo described as daunting.
Their recent victory gave them hope for their next Nedbank Cup qualifying matches to be played at provincial level.
However, despite their win by such a large margin, Nkondo was not happy with the team’s performance. He said they missed many chances which could be dangerous when playing tougher opponents.
“The score could have been more than 10 goals if we had converted all our chances,” he said. “If one creates five chances, one has to convert at least three of them, not miss them all.”
He said they were not only focussed on being in the Nedbank Cup final 32, but also on finishing the Castle League in first place to be promoted to the Safa Second Division League.
“My ambition and that of the team is not only to win the Nedbank Cup tournament, but to also make it to the Safa Second Division League,” he said.
“All we need is to now focus on areas where we are weak such as our finish ups.”
