This year’s annual BMW Modern Autohaus 4-in-1 Road Race, presented by the Polokwane Athletic Club will take place on Saturday, February 22. The race will start at the Peter Mokaba Stadium.
Each year, the race attracts a large number of athletes, with 1 100 athletes competing in last year’s race.
The marathon’s 42km main race serves as a qualifying event for the Comrades Ultra Marathon and the Two Oceans Marathon.
This is the sixth year that BMW Modern Autohaus Polokwane is sponsoring the race and the total prize money is R18 000.
The race will be competed over four distances: 42km, 21km, 10km and 5km races. Walkers can also enter in all these races, except the 42km race.
There will be a 60m toddler fun run at 11:00 for children under six. The 42km and 21km races will start at 06:30 and the 10km and 5km races will start at 06:45.
Entries can be made at the venue on the evening before the race from 17:00 until 19:00, as well as the morning of the race from 05:00 until 10 minutes before the start of the races. Entry for the 5km race costs R25, the 10km race costs R40, the 21km race costs R60 and entry for the 42km race costs R80.
A provincial road race licence is required for the 10km, 21km and 42km races. Temporary licences can be purchased before the start of these races at a cost of R25.
All runners over the age of 70 do not need to pay race running fees, but are expected to pay for a temporary licence if they are not a member of a registered club, and an ID book is required for a free race number.
