LIMPOPO’s top boxer, Pfariso “Cobra” Neluvhalani is expected to release deadly venom at his Gauteng counterpart, Class “Demolish” Mboyabe in their 10-round bantamweight provincial championship fight at the Thohoyandou town hall on Saturday, March 1.
The promoter, Phathutshedzo “Champ” Dongola from Champ Boxing Promotion said this would be one of the toughest fights in the history of Boxing South Africa (BSA), as the title was currently vacant and the winner would get national exposure.
“Mboyane’s followers believe that he will demolish the Cobra, while Cobra’s fans say he will make his competitor run. Both sides are hard at training preparing for the fight,” he said.
This will not be the only fight to be fought; Sydney “Skeleton” Maluleke from Gauteng will clash with Thizwilondi “Tiger” Nempandoni from Limpopo over eight rounds in the junior lightweight division.
In the welterweight division, Norman “No Risk” Tshisikhawe from Limpopo will be clashing with Mastad Mangalaza from Gauteng over six rounds. “In the lightweight division, Khodani Tshikovhi from Limpopo will be showing his colours against his home-boy, Devmore Dumasi over four rounds,” Dongola said.
“In the bantamweight division Godfrey Nemukongwe from Limpopo will be fighting against Gregory Millo also from Limpopo over six rounds and in the bantamweight division over four rounds, Moloko “Tornado” Pela and Twarelo Mafhoene both from Limpopo are expected to feature in the first fight,” he continued.
He said the tournament was known as the Limpopo Boxing Bill Tournament and would unearth unknown boxing talent as well as give boxing exposure.
“Our aim is to produce at least two South African champions and one international champion before the end of the year. We need people to come in large numbers and cheer for the boxers. It will be a 2014 boxing explosion. We are thankful to the sponsors for their contribution.”
The tournament will start at 18:00 and there will be many artists entertaining spectators.
Tickets cost R50, while VIP tickets cost R200. For more information contact Dongola at 071 400 1097 or Ephraim Simba at 072 672 0315.
