POLOKWANE – Laura Lennox, a 14-year-old swimmer from the Eagar Aquatics Swimming Academy, is among the group of Limpopo swimmers who will compete in a national swimming competition in Cape Town from March 10 to 17.

Laura accumulated the most points during a provincial swimming meeting, which was held at the Polokwane swimming pools on Saturday, winning by 20 points.

“I started swimming at a very early age and this is why I excel in what I do. Swimming is my favourite sport and I am aim to compete in the Olympics,” she says. Laura looks up to Penelope “Penny” Heyns and says she would like to swim like her idol one day.

She says attitude goes a long way and athletes should love what they do and listen to their coaches.

Eagar has described Laura as talented, hard working and committed. “Laura has qualified for the Common Wealth swimming trials, a feat that shows massive commitment.

“The trials are meant for senior swimmers, but she claimed a spot. “I see a future world champion and I am sure she will do well during the national schools swimming competition,” said Eagar.

She urged other athletes to never give up until they have achieve their goals.
