Ramalema Cosmos back in KLG league after expulsion

FORMER Kaizer Letsoalo Games (KLG) Soccer League log leaders, Ramalema Cosmos, was re-admitted to the league.

FORMER Kaizer Letsoalo Games (KLG) Soccer League log leaders, Ramalema Cosmos, was re-admitted to the league.

This follows their expulsion from all activities and events of the KLG, including the soccer league and numerous other tournaments last year.

The chairperson of the KLG Soccer League, Marupine Sape, said Ramalema Cosmos were expelled after violating a number of KLG rules and the KLG Soccer League.

These included bringing the name of KLG and the KLG Soccer League into disrepute. One of the main offences they committed, he said, was to engage in unofficial events or activities without prior written permission from the league committee.

“In addition, the team had the tendency of undermining the official programme of the league,” said Sape.

According to Sape, it took more than two months for both the KLG League Committee and Cosmos to ultimately reach an agreement.

The chairperson of the disciplinary committee of KLG Soccer League, Skero Mocheki said it was not an easy decision to arrive at, as Ramalema Cosmos committed a very serious offence.

“We had to look at the seriousness of the case and balance it against the deep sense of remorse shown by the club officials.

“Added to that, we consider the welfare of the soccer-playing youth of the area,” remarked Mocheki.

Many loyal followers of KLG Games in the area have welcomed the decision.

Fans from teams such as Khopho All Stars, Mapantsula, Leswika Classic, Golden Aces and Mmaphala Peter United praised the new-look KLG League Committee for allowing Ramalema Cosmos back, especially after denying them the opportunity to participate in the prestigious KLG Top 8 Soccer Challenge.

“Ramalema Cosmos have learnt a lesson. Allowing them back means we are guaranteed tough and exciting football as Cosmos will be defending their title,” said Peter Mametja, owner of Mmaphala United.

“We are excited. At least we will have a derby at Motlhatlareng” Said Eliya Rakgoale, captain of the neighbouring Leswika Classic.

Ramalema Cosmos officials, Frazer Letsoalo and Benni Modiba said they respected the “amicable decision” reached by the two parties to eventually reach a consensus.

They went on to say they were happy to be back to defend their title.

“Whoever thought they were going to win the KLG Premier League should think twice because the champs are back. We can’t live without KLG,” remarked Letsoalo.

Ramalema Cosmos will be campaigning in the elite division of KLG, the KLG Premier League.

The second tier of the KLG Soccer League is the KLG Super League which boasts a lot of exciting new teams. Both divisions of the KLG Soccer League are set to kick-off next weekend.
