Polbull sets sights on turning pro
Muhammed Ali Salman says he is going to turn professional after the Boxing South Africa test tournament which will be held at the Thohoyandou Indoor Sports Centre at the end of the month.
POLOKWANE – Muhammed Ali Salman says he is going to turn professional after the Boxing South Africa test tournament which will be held at the Thohoyandou Indoor Sports Centre at the end of the month.
Known as “Polbull”, Salman (17) will be among 40 armature boxers who will participate in the tournament.
Polbull, a gr. 10 Taxilla Secondary School learner is hard at training, and says he will trample over anyone who stands in his way to victory.
He says his role model is Muhammed Ali.
“I feel great and would like to thank my father and Hussain Ghani for supporting me. I want to make a mark in Limpopo and take boxing to greater heights. I also appreciate the support from my friend Nabeel Carrim who inspired me to return back to boxing. My dream is to become heavy weight champion of the world,” says Polbull.
Polbull’s father, Hamid says he supports his son to actively participate in sport and education. He also believes that his son will turn professional at the end of the month.
“We are from Pakistan and my son is going to be the Polokwane Bull (Polbull),” says Hamid.
The tournament promoter, Phathutshedzo “Champ” Dongola says it is going to be a tough selection and boxers should be physically and mentally prepared.
