‘We need a little bit of luck’ – Polokwane City coach

City's head coach, Bobbie Solomons, said his players showed a lot of improvement when they played to a 1-1 draw against Free State Stars at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday evening.

POLOKWANE City’s head coach, Bobbie Solomons, said his players showed a lot of improvement when they played to a 1-1 draw against Free State Stars at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday evening.

City’s players slacked off after substitute Puleng Tlolane gave the Polokwane side a lead in the 76th minute, but a minute later, the score was levelled, with Luyolo Nomandela pulling one back for the visitors from a rather awkward angle.

Before Tlolane’s goal from the edge of the box, City’s chances to score were few and far between, but the former Santos and Bloemfontein mentor believed the players were on the right track.

“We dominated the match and we should have won the match. We were in a bad situation, but the boys have showed a lot of improvement compared to previous matches. It is a pity that we lost concentration after scoring the goal and allowed our opponents to equalise. I believe with a little bit of luck we will win upcoming matches,” Solomons said.

The draw against Stars extended City’s losing streak to five and their character will be tested when they travel to Tswane for a duel with wounded Pretoria University on Saturday.

The Johnny Mogaladi-owned club will have to live up to its nickname, Rise and Shine, to avoid the dreaded relegation axe.

Apart from the match against Tuks, City will play home matches against defending champions, Kaizer Chiefs, as well as Maritzburg United and Moroka Swallows.

They will have to scramble for points in their away games against Mpumalanga Black Aces and Supersport United.
