Limpopo’s 2 golf teams achieve mixed results
The Limpopo Golf Union saw two of their teams, the u/23 and the senior squad, participate in national events last week and returned with mixed results.

POLOKWANE – The Limpopo Golf Union saw two of their teams, the u/23 and the senior squad, participate in national events last week and returned with mixed results.
The Royal Durban Golf Club was the venue for the u/23 inter-provincial golf tournament from April 7 to 11.
Here Limpopo competed in the A-division against the likes of Gauteng North, Central Gauteng, Ekurhuleni, Western Province and North West.
Limpopo held its own with a group of talented youngsters who played superb games.
In the penultimate round, Limpopo enjoyed a slender lead over North West, but their loss in the last round against Central Gauteng saw them defeated by North West.
This means that Limpopo will be re-legated to the B-division next year.
KwaZulu-Natal got the better of the Southern Cape team in their last round to win the B-division in front of their ecstatic home fans.
This means that this coastal team will be promoted to the A-division in place of the relegated Limpopo-side.
Niko Koster, commitee member of Limpopo Golf Union, says these players are certainly a very bright prospect for the future and they have immense talent.
Hennie du Plessis, the Nomads South-African boys u/19 match play finalist, led the Limpopo side with support from Jaco Linde, Cameron Newsmith, Corné Olivier, Franco van Zyl, Ben Harris, Stefan de Beer and Phosa Kwetepane.

This contest was hosted in at the Erinvale Gold Club in Somerset West from April 8 to 11.
Limpopo competed against the Southern Cape, Free State, Boland and Northern Cape teams in the B-division.
Limpopo’s team impressed with a third place finish ahead of the side from Boland and Northern Cape in fourth and fifth places respectively.
The winners were the team from the Southern Cape with the Free State barely edging out Limpopo for a second place.
Limpopo’s team were proudly represented by Francois Goosen, Hennie Michau, Harry Oberholzer, Len Olley, Piet Potgieter, André Swart, Kobus van der Berg and Giel van Wyk.
