Fun day at oval track

Motorsport had a lot to cheer about at this year's national oval track championships at the Polokwane Oval on Saturday.

POLOKWANE – Motorsport had a lot to cheer about at this year’s national oval track championships at the Polokwane Oval on Saturday.

Participants raced in five classes: rookie, 1660, stockrods, 2.1-litre modified and hotrods.

National racing heroes like Tienie Kloppers, Willie Blignaut and Nico Grebe upped the level of competitiveness and ensured an action packed race day.

To top off a perfect day at the races, the Gabriel Aerobatic Team entertained the crowd with daring feats in their four Pitts Special airplanes.

The aerobatic team broadcast their in-flight conversation and made the spectators part of the action.

Hungry motorsport enthusiasts were also not disappointed with the delicious food available and the racing mementos on sale.

An unofficial race in which private motorists could participate also made for excitement at the end of the day.
