POLOKWANE – Three members of the LPSKKA Kickboxing Club in the city performed well in the NMA and ISKA Kickboxing and Karate Championships at the Bellville Velodrome in Cape Town recently.

Lee Kleynhans was crowned South African champion in the light continuous contact division during the championships, and she also walked away with a silver medal in the semi-contact division.

According to the coach, sensei Nico Myburgh, he has no doubt that Kleynhans will be part of the South African squad, which will be announced soon to compete in the World Championships during 2015.

Stefan Pretorius competed in one of the most challenging junior divisions and proved he was one of the best in his division.

Pretorius won a bronze medal in the boys 12 to 14 years advanced semi-contact division. He also won two silver medals for light continuous contact and open creative unison kata.

Pretorius is currently preparing for the South African All Styles Kickboxing Championships, which will take place in Gauteng next month.

Kian Kleynhans won a silver medal for open creative unison kata and won a bronze medal in the boys 14 to 15 years intermediate light continuous contact division.

According to Myburgh, Kian had to deal with big entries in his specific categories, but proved to be a force to be reckoned with in the future.

“He is an extremely hard worker and has one goal, to be the best in his division during the next All Styles SA Kickboxing Championships,” said Myburgh.

“These students cannot wait for the announcement of the South African squad.”
