Cricketers bowl selectors over

POLOKWANE – Cricketers in the city gathered at the Polokwane Cricket Club to try out for provincial teams that will represent the province during Cricket South Africa (CSA) national weeks, which will be held in December.
The trials took place from Friday until Sunday.
According to the CSA website, professional selectors used national week to identify players who would form part of the South African u/19 team to represent the country in world games.
The u/17 set-up is divided in two categories, which is the Rural Cricket Association of South Africa (RCASA) week, as well the national week that is organised under the banner of CSA.
The rural week gives players that are from small disadvantaged areas a chance to also play competitive cricket.
Sedibu Mohlaba, Limpopo Cricket Association club and facility coordinator, said they selected u/15, 17 and 19 men’s teams and u/13, 16 and 19 women’s teams.
“It was not an easy task, but we managed to finalise the teams, we are now waiting for the board to approve,” he said.
Mohlaba said the players who attended the trials were from schools that were affiliated to the Limpopo Cricket Association.
