Lim u/13 cricketers prepare for the SA’s with friendly match

THE Limpopo u/13 girls’ cricket team challenged the Northerns Cricket Club from Pretoria in a friendly game at the Polokwane Cricket Club on Saturday.

The Northerns won the game with eight wickets.

According to Delyn Jacobs, Limpopo u/13 cricket team manager, the game served as preparation for the inter-provincial tournament in Gauteng from December 4 to 7.

She said the Limpopo team was made up of 12 players who were selected during trials that were held recently.

“We have a well balanced team and I believe they will do their best in the tournament. However, we have a problem with primary schools that don’t offer cricket for girls in the province,” said Jacobs.

Tapiwa Kuhlengisa, head coach, said this was the team’s third friendly match and he was impressed with the players’ performance.

“These girls have a lot of potential, but there is still a lot of work to be done so that we can be ready for the big tournament. We only have four weeks to prepare for the tournament and we will use the time we have wisely,” he said.
