POLOKWANE – Donald Mongoai, first dan black belt karate student of the Eksteen’s Bushido Karate-Do, under the watchful eye of ninth dan Soke Henri Eksteen, used all his knowledge and skills last Saturday to win his full contact all styles karate fight against Moffat Senyatsi in the men’s over 21 years senior division in the Battle in the Bush tournament.
According to Eksteen, karate students from his club as well as contestants from North West karate clubs competed in full contact fights and also took part in kata categories.
Eksteen said the tournament, the 10th of its kind since it started in 2004, once again lived up to expectations with some excellent duals.
The full contact participants had to wear the compulsory protective gear in the event.
Eksteen said the fights consisted of traditional full contact karate principles and that the Battle in the Bush participants from his club did very well again this year, despite the fierce competition.
Eksteen said his Karate-Do also included the Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) Institute, which will host its next Cage Rage “Blood Fist” event on December 6 at Eksteen’s premises in Burger Street, at the Polokwane’s sport and recreation centre.
The Blood Fist event will start at 19:00.
Eksteen encouraged cage fight enthusiasts to come and enjoy some great action.
