Record numbers at 1st Seeff race
The Seeff Road Race saw a record amount of 790 runners and walkers participate in the race on Saturday morning.
POLOKWANE – The Seeff Road Race saw a record amount of 790 runners and walkers participate in the race on Saturday morning.
The race, which started at Seeff’s offices in Platinum Park Shopping Centre, was dubbed a huge success by all the runners, and it was also the first race on Limpopo’s running calendar.
Phuti Mohale from Pietersburg Road Runners won the 10km men’s open category, followed by Emmanuel Ramohale in second place and Papole Erasmus in third place.
Ramohale was also the first junior to cross the finish line in the 10km race.
In the 10km women’s open category, Melanie Melville won first prize, followed by Nicole de Jongh and Elizna Kotze.
Melville and Percy Mogomo won the men’s and women’s veteran’s categories respectively, with Israel Madibane and Santa van Heerden winning the master’s category.
Mohale and Liliana Mazzaro took the honours in the grand masters categories, while Hester Myburgh and Wynand Krone won the walker’s categories.
“We have committed to hosting the Seeff Road Race again next year and we are excited to announce that next year’s race will include a 21,1km race, as well as the 10km race and a 5km fun run,” said Seeff Road Race organiser, Mariette Pretorius.
