2 victories save Manyora FC

FC MANYORA head coach Freddy Tjale is a man of his word and his turn-around strategy to change the club's fortune paid off when the Seshego-based club rose from the dead to claim an impressive 3-1 victory over Peace United on Saturday, before edging out Dolphins FC 2-1 on Sunday.

FC MANYORA head coach Freddy Tjale is a man of his word and his turn-around strategy to change the club’s fortune paid off when the Seshego-based club rose from the dead to claim an impressive 3-1 victory over Peace United on Saturday, before edging out Dolphins FC 2-1 on Sunday.

Tjale lived to his promise of making changes in the team, and new faces could be spotted in the team, which collected six points over the weekend.

Tjale traded his coaching job for the goalkeeping gloves when they faced Peace United and his decision was justified when he saved a penalty, heroics that won the match for his team.

Talking to CV after their win over Dolphins FC, Tjale said he was impressed with the showing of the new players, saying FC Manyora supporters must expect more changes in the team.

“Desperate situations call for desperate measures.

“Our team was heading for relegation and we could not afford that.

“We are now starting a new combination and judging by the results, we are going somewhere. Five goals in two matches is no cheap feat, but our fitness levels still need a lot of attention,” he said.

Tjale said they are out to collect maximum points on Saturday when they travel to Ga-Mathabatha for a match against Mountain Callies FC.

“We want to qualify for the play-offs for the ABC Motsepe League at the end of the season, and with dedication and commitment, we can achieve that,” he said.

The head coach of Dolphins FC, Bashin Makhitha attributed his club’s loss to a lack of confidence and failure to finish clear-cut chances.

“We conceded two early goals and we gained our momentum very late in the game. We should have scored at least five goals, but luck was not our side. We will work on our defence and finishing at training, and I am confident we will get it right,” said Makhitha.

Dolphins FC have only won one match, drawn three and lost two matches thus far in the season. Their midfielder, Solly Chuene should have salvaged a point for the Dendron-based outfit against FC Manyora, but his awful miss inside the six yards with only a minute remaining on the clock secured three points for the home side.
