Darts champ set to defend title
Roelof Burger is the South African singles darts champion, and says he is ready to defend the title during the South African Darts Championships, which will be held in Johannesburg in July.
POLOKWANE – Roelof Burger is the South African singles darts champion, and says he is ready to defend the title during the South African Darts Championships, which will be held in Johannesburg in July.
Burger was born and raised in Giyani, but later moved to Pretoria for work purposes.
He says he started playing darts in 1996 when he was 14 years old and has been doing well since.
“I am happy to be in the Limpopo Darts team,” says Burger.
He says darts is a pressure and mind game, and as a result, one needs to focus to achieve great results.
Burger is the manager of Sunset View Family Resort in Pretoria and says he thinks the resort’s personnel for their support whenever he competes in competitions.
“We need to promote the sport in the province and nurture new talent. Darts is like any other sport that needs thorough preparation,” he says.
He says everybody needs to start somewhere in order to succeed.
“All you need is to persevere, work hard and pay attention to everything you do.”
