POLOKWANE – Polokwane City FC have made their intentions of finishing the league stronger very clear by holding onto their tried and tested players during the January transfer window.
Speculation was rife that red hot striker, Puleng Tlolane, was on the verge of leaving the club for one of the larger clubs, but Rise ‘n Shine secured his stay in Polokwane.
Despite losing Mothusi Gopane and Siphesihle Nzimande to Supersport United and Royal Eagles respectively, City FC believe that they have a strong team that will continue from where they left off last year, a performance that saw them finish the year in sixth place with 24 points off 17 matches.
City FC have strengthened their firepower by securing the signature of Ghanaian striker, Ransford Osei.
City FC head coach, Kosta Papic, confirmed that the club planned to sign former Chippa United player, Jabulani Nene, who was released from his contract last December.
“I know him from Chippa United and when I heard that he was free, I made a move to have him here. I am not sure of the duration of his contract, but I know he will be here for long and he will be available when we face Ajax Cape Town on Wednesday,” said Papic.
Papic also promoted two players from their MultiChoice Diski team. Sbusiso Msibi and Bhekuthando Mmema have now been registered with the first team following their good showing in the reserve league.
City FC will play their first home match of the year on Saturday against Moroka Swallows at the Peter Mokaba Stadium.
