Chapson Mahwiting, Blouberg Local Football Association (LFA) chairperson, and Thomas Mulaudzi, Molemole LFA, were elected first and second deputy presidents respectively. Sesupa Mahapa, Aganang LFA chairperson, was re-elected as treasurer, a position he has held for the past four year. The elected members will be joined by five LFA chairpersons and co-opted members to form the new regional executive committee that will govern football in the region for the next four years.

According to Rakoma, SAFA belonged to everyone. “Together we are going to improve the development of football at grassroots level and strengthen the South African Breweries League to be competitive and match other clubs at higher competition level such the Nedbank Cup. It was a very exhausting process but it is over now, and we are going to work for the football community. Congratulations to those who were elected. Those who were not elected will not be lost to football but will continue to serve football in their structures,” Rakoma said.

The elective congress was attended by members of the former REC and the five LFA’s namely Polokwane, Blouberg, Molemole, Aganang and Lepelle Nkumpi. As the associate member, SAFA attended as an observer.

Rakoma is also a member of the SAFA national executive committee and a member the national technical committee responsible for coaching and has served football for many years.
