Win for Lidoda Duvha

BLACK Leopards revived their hope of gaining promotion when they beat Witbank Spurs 2-1 in a National First Division match.

THOHOYANDOU – BLACK Leopards revived their hope of gaining promotion when they beat Witbank Spurs 2-1 in a National First Division match.

The match was played at the Thohoyandou Stadium on Saturday afternoon, but Leopards coach, Zeca Marques, said the team would now gunned for the scalps of both Baroka FC and Vasco da Gama, who they would play on Wednesday and Saturday respectively.

Red hot on-loan striker Roggert Nyundu scored his seventh goal in just four matches to help Lidoda Duvha climb the log to position seven, 10 points away from run-away leaders Golden Arrows.

Midfielder Leonard Ntshangase scored the other goal for Leopards, while Mogau Tshehla pulled one back for Spurs.

Marques said he knew the game against Spurs would be difficult, as much as it would be difficult to collect points against Baroka and Vasco.

“We have a target of nine points out of these three matches.

“Three points are in the bag and now our focus is on collecting six points to put ourselves in a better position to be promoted,” said Marques.

Lidoda Duvha have scored a total of 14 goals, but have failed to keep a single clean sheet, but Marques said he was not worried about his charges’ failure to prevent opponents from scoring.

“We are an attacking team, as much as we want to score against our opponents; they also want to score against us.

“As long as we are scoring goals and winning matches, I do not worry about keeping clean sheets.”
