LEPELLE Northern Water (LNW) staged a two-day sports tournament with various Southern African Development Community (SADC) water utilities at the Peter Mokaba Stadium.
POLOKWANE – LEPELLE Northern Water (LNW) staged a two-day sports tournament with various Southern African Development Community (SADC) water utilities at the Peter Mokaba Stadium recently, which included volleyball, netball, soccer and pool.
According to LNW acting chief executive, Phineas Legodi, the main aim of the event was to strengthen the relationship between water utilities in the SADC region.
“We realised that we could attempt to unite the SADC region through sport. Another purpose of the event was to share skills and knowledge in supplying sustainable, affordable and quality water.
“It has been noticed that water knows no boundaries so countries are compelled to work together in attaining their mandate.
“Several countries share national rivers such as the Limpopo River, which is shared by Botswana, Limpopo and Zimbabwe,” Legodi explained.
LNW finished in first place in the netball and pool, and in fourth place in the soccer and volleyball. Overall, LNW claimed third position.
