Tournament held to celebrate Africa Day

SIX football teams recently participated in a soccer tournament at the Mohlakaneng sports ground in Seshego in celebration of Africa Day.

SESHEGO -SIX football teams recently participated in a soccer tournament at the Mohlakaneng sports ground in Seshego in celebration of Africa Day.

According to the match organiser, Daniel Mokgothos the purpose of the match was to celebrate the unity among Africans.

“We wanted to celebrate Africa Day differently. We need to accelerate positive change on the African continent and we as young people have the power to do that. We need to be exemplary and fight against violence leveled against our African brother and sister. We need to say no to xenophobia,” said Mokgotho.

Dikeledi Mathabatha, spokesperson of Money Team, said the day was well celebrated.

“It means recognising our fellow brother irrespective of the colour of their skin, their language or religion. We preach the spirit that all Africans are the same. We stand firm against xenophobia.

Results:

• Seshego Zone 1 beat Meropa FC 2-1.

• Money Team beat Sapa Yopa 5-0.

• Marikana FC Beat #Team Radilaola 4-3 on the penalty shoots out.
