Skateboarding fun at MotN
The third annual Ry's and RE/MAX Skateboarding Competition took place at Mall of the North on Saturday.
POLOKWANE – The third annual Ry’s and RE/MAX Skateboarding Competition took place at Mall of the North on Saturday.
The participants competed in three categories: amateur (open division), intermediate (14 years and older) and the 13 years and younger category.
First place winners walked away with skateboards, cameras, stickers and other memorabilia, while second and third place winners received sweatpants, caps, bottles and other memorabilia.
The criteria on which the skaters were judged were style, consistency, variety, originality and difficulty.
Winners:
Amateurs category:
1. Edison Masebe.
2. Jaycee van Staden.
3. Bevan Richards.
Intermediate category:
1. Kgodiso Selepi.
2. Tshepo Nalane.
3. Lesego Rangoanash.
13 years and younger category:
1. Tristan Richards.
Bevan Richards won best trick with a 360º tailgrab with the ramp over the big box.
“The day was a success and we can’t wait for the next competition,” said Rynardt van der Merwe, co-organiser of the event, who also designed the skating course.
